Memory Remains

all things in time must change
as ashes fade to dust
yet memories still remain
shadowed images in the crust

ripples on the pond
winds carrying a leaf
poetry sung into a song
a tale of longing grief

but do not cry for them
these ghosts of ancient past
for all things in time must change
nothing is made to last

but gone is not forgotten
the two are not the same
your voice will be remembered
your memory remains
